Every parent love their children but the difference lies in the mode of expression. They all like to see their off springs achieve what they couldn’t. In the pursuit of doing so, they at times over-burden their children with their expectations. Children on the other hand are influenced by many external and internal factors while arriving on any conclusion.
Unable to resist the load of expectation from his father Sunil Sethi ran away from his home with an intension of earning his own living in Mumbai when he didn’t even have a proper educational qualification. It could have led to dire consequences had he not been rescued by SOCH outreaching team at Khordha railway station on 1st June 2016. After failing to clear the Matriculation examination after 2 attempts his life had become stressful as his father reprimanded him daily in a drunken state and accused him of being hopeless and good for nothing and wondering here and there in the village.
This is when SOCH informed Sunil about Project Pankh and assured him to help and assist him in taking the right step towards a better career. Though Sunil had interest in joining Police Services his lack of educational qualification limited his scope. Taking into consideration his background and qualification SOCH offered him with few options under Skill India programme. He chose Sewing Machine Operator course and was enrolled in IL&FS institute on 29th July 2016 for Sewing Machine Operator (SMO).
Life is a two way communication process that is fueled by understanding. If Parents have expectations, children should respect them. It has become a compulsory for today’s generation to be a Graduate. Alongside parents should also understand and encourage their child’s aspirations. Disrespect and Overambitious expectations would only imbalance the harmony.
Follow-up Status: Sunil has finished his Training and waiting for his job opportunity. But he is at least confident and happy that if not a job he is still capable of earning a living on his own.
